We made it off base for awhile on Sunday. Charles drove us around and we saw one of the major city's of the area Angra Do Heroismo. Our first stop was to this store, they have a variety of cow products all made from Grass fed Cows.
In the lobby there was a cow displayed.
Robynn tasted the Gelato made there. Very good! I was grateful that they spoke English at the counter. I stumbled along trying to order in Portuguese, and the man said after my attempt, " Are you saying you want one scoop of Gelato" in perfect English. Thank goodness cause we had just been to a place to fill our gas up in our car, and it was hard using sign language to get our point across. The Portuguese are such a patient people which is really nice, However, I really do need to learn the language.
They view from the restaurant/store balcony
The mini hamburgers they made for Robynn to eat.
Then we got into the city of Angra where we were greeted by this statue of the bulls
This is where they have the stadium bull fights I think. They have ended for this season, so we will have to wait till next summer to see one.
Robynn and I by the sea. It looks like we are sitting on a ledge and can fall backwards into the sea. However, it is not a big drop behind us...just the side walk leading to a path.
Robynn had fun climbing up this and did it over and over.
Down town in Angra.
This is what the street we were driving on looked like
This is the sidewalk.
By late afternoon we had worn Robynn out. Charles and I drove around looking at things from the car while Robynn took a snooze.
We found where one of the Caves are, so that might be our trip for next weekend. This is a shot of the countryside by the cave. It was nice to get off base and see a bit of the island. I'm starting to get to know my way around. We still have not bought another car yet, so Robynn and I might be stuck on base a lot for the next week. There are a lot of parks we want to explore though, so that should keep us busy.
