Rat Tales

I have always had an infinity for rats. Every since I was  little, and I got my first one as a pet. In my opinion, they are sweeter and smarter then any Hamster, Gerbil or Guinna pig. They are curious, sweet, and happy creatures. Of all the rats we have every owned not one ever tried to bite us. Granted we always treated the rats with kindness, so there was no need for them to every feel threatened.

Right now we are unable to have rats. We live on an island, and were not allowed to bring one a s a pet. Robynn is really good with rats, but for most children the recommendation is seven years old. Robynn's Aunt and Nana have rats right now, and recently started writing children's stories. We LOVE them! Cute pictures and story lines. Robynn reads them over and over again. I thought I would share them with folks. I think other children would enjoy them as well. Robynn name is mentioned in the beginning, but your child's name could easily be inserted as you read the story to them.

Here is an example to my Mom's blog.

Halloween Walk About

By TrishB.

One day Twidgy went out for a walk. It was a long walk and along the way she found a beautiful pool to get a drink of water from.
She was glad because she became very thirsty with all that walking.

She was having such a wonderful time walking and exploring, on such a beautiful day in October, that soon she was somewhere she had never been before. In fact, she saw many strange things. One was a very magical window.

Twidgy really wanted to get into the place that the window showed her. It had such a wonderful view of green plants. She went around behind the window and found a small hole that she could crawl through and when she came out the other side she was so surprised. She came to a land that didn't look like any other place she had been before.

It had so many beautiful colors to look at. She just had to explore. She even climbed over tall branches
and found a very wise owl to talk with.
The owl told Twidgy she was in the land of the Halloween Fairy. Twidgy wondered what the fairy was like. The owl said she was very friendly and kind and sometimes gave good treats to eat.
Owl told Twidgy where to find the fairy's house. And soon she was climbing down the side of the fairy's pumpkin house.
and sure enough there was the Halloween Fairy sitting outside.

Twidgy went right up and said, "Hi". The Halloween Fairy was so happy to see Twidgy that she shared some banana with her.

and Twidgy ate it all up.

Twidgy said goodbye to the Halloween Fairy and said she would come back to see her someday. The fairy said that she would bring her a treat on Halloween. Twidgy thought about the fairy all the way home and the treat she was going to get. She hoped it would be another banana.

Rockin’ Rats

Rockin’ Rats
Dear Robynn,

One day Jelly Bean was feeling a little sad. She was thinking about the instruments Cricket had surprised her with a few weeks ago, but Jelly did not know what to do with them.
At first she tried to play the guitar, but she couldn’t figure out which side was up.
Jelly soon gave up and Cricket took immediate interest in the guitar and began fiddling with it. Cricket was learning quickly.
Jelly next approached the piano.

The piano was much easier for her to use, but the noises she made did not sound good. She played much too loud. Clung clung went the piano. She was quickly discouraged.
The next day she tried again, but the noises she made did not sound good. She was too off beat. Ding dung ding, ding ding went the piano. She was quickly dispirited.
The next day she tried again, but the noises she made did not sound good. The piano was out of tune. Squeal and screech went the piano. She was quickly disheartened.
The next day, Jelly Bean did not try again. She spent long hours watching longingly as Cricket practiced.

When Cricket saw that Jelly was not playing she asked her what was the matter. Jelly told her that she could not make the piano sound good. “You must keep trying,” Cricket said. “The only way to become very good at something is to keep practicing, even if it takes a long time.”
Jelly Bean practiced with Cricket every day and she became better and better.
Soon they were both playing together.

They named their duo band Rockin’ Rats and produced several smashing hits such as
  • Fuzzy Mizfits
  • Mad Ratters
  • ‘Lil Rugrats
You can look for their album cover:

But best of all, Jelly Bean learned that she really could play the piano, so long as she practiced.
