Shape Up!

Now that the warm weather has returned Robynn and I have resumed our jogging in the morning. Three times a week, we wake and get ready to run. I cook Robynn a  bowl of hot oat meal with flex seed, blueberries, and bundle her up. We head out at 7:30 am and it's pretty warm by then. As I run, Robynn relaxes and eats breakfast listening to the sounds of the morning. I have a pretty nice jogging route that always ends with us at the park. Usually by the time we make it to the park, Robynn is shedding her blanket and sweat shirt because it's pretty warm. She has finished with her breakfast, washed it down with the water I brought, and is ready to play. We stay at the park for about an hour. Lately, we have been playing pirate where we find treasure and hide it around the park. Usually the treasure is flowers, rocks, grass or sticks. We run all over the park, and of course the play structure is our ship. As we do this I am able to get in some more exercise. The park we go to has a nice cement ledge that I use to do my step workout. I get in my flutter kicks, and tummy crunches as well. While Robynn hides treasure, I do lunges. It's a pretty good workout for me, and at the same time Robynn is having fun.
Across from the park the city just recently finished making a second park. This park does not have a play structure and is more for picnics. We had not explored it as of yet, but a few days ago we crossed the street to check it out. We discovered that it has a huge field of wild flowers.

It's absolutely beautiful. Birds are singing in the trees, and you can hear the prepping of crickets in the reeds. Hardly anyone goes to this park, and so it feels like a quiet oasis.

Robynn enjoys the wild flowers while I relax or take pictures.

I wish I had checked this place out sooner. It would have been perfect to do a Easter egg hunt...with Robynn finding eggs amongst the flowers. As it is, we plan to enjoy our quiet mornings and also go back for picnics.
